Membership
LexFUN!, Lexington's Five and Under Network, is a volunteer-led, non-profit organization that helps families with young children by providing support, community, resources, and friendship. LexFUN! is run by a group of about sixty volunteer members who coordinate programs and serve on the Board. Our mission is to enrich the lives of families with children five and under both within our organization and the community. LexFUN! was formed in 1942 and is a local unit of the Massachusetts branch of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers. LexFUN! is not affiliated with any public or private school. The organization’s goal is to offer social, educational, and community-based programs and events to families with young children. LexFUND, the organization’s scholarship and community fund, provides assistance to local families and non-profit organizations. Annual dues are $30 and membership is open to anyone in Lexington and surrounding communities. Our membership has grown significantly and is now over 550 families in Lexington and surrounding towns. Notices of our upcoming activities are posted around town, on our website www. lexfun.org, and published in our monthly newsletter and local newspapers. LexFUN! maintains continued communication with the Lexington Public Schools, the local preschools, other Lexington PTAs [through the PTA Council], the Lexington Early Education Committee and Cary Memorial Library Children's Room staff on interests for young children and their parents. LexFUN! was formerly known as the LPPTA. Our new name was introduced in June 2009.

Join playgroups to meet families in your neighborhood with similar interests. Sign up with our Playgroup chairperson to join a group or start your town today! Interested in a book club group? Join a book group, create a book group, Sign up with our Book group chairperson to join or start your own today! Join us at a Seminar. LexFUN! sponsors seminars through the school year with topics ranging from parenting techniques, toilet training to child development. Have a child that is on their way to kindergarten in the fall, meet other families and get connected through LexFUN!’s Kindergarten Connection program. The Kindergarten Connection program is organized through LexFUN! to create a social network for incoming Kindergarteners and their families. Join us and meet other Kindergarteners and their families from your school so that you start the year with some friendly faces!
Share Information
Find answers, give advice, you’ll find it all on our new Big Tent forum! This is very similar to the Yahoo listserv many of our members have been using for years, with the exception that only LexFUN! Big Tent members can access or post information. Have questions, our members have answers! LexFUN!’s Big Tent forum is a trusted source of parenting information and advice as well as a place to buy and sell kid/family-related items, post a new job or find/provide information on new events around town and within LexFUN!. Please read our Guidelines for Forum Posts! You will also be privy to news through our monthly newsletter (September – June) and is sent via email. The newsletter is sent to the membership ten times per year (September to June) by email. The newsletter provides a monthly calendar of events, including social/recreational, educational and charitable activities, and articles from local experts on parenting, health, financial management and much more!
Discover Your Neighborhood
LexFUN! organizes and participates in many community-wide events including the Annual Open House in September, the Halloween Parade in October, Member Appreciation Day in October, Luminary Night in December, a White Elephant social in January, the Tanglewood Marionettes show in February, Barn Babies in March, our Consignment Sale in May as well as our on-going weekly/monthly events: Playground Meet Ups, SummerFUN!, WinterFUN!, Meals on Wheels, Drop-In Center and Youville Assisted Living Place monthly get togethers. Save Big Bucks
LexFUN! members will receive a special discount at several local businesses and restaurants when members shop and present their LexFUN! Membership card. Click here for a list of up-to-date participating merchants (listed at the bottom section of this page). Membership cards are distributed to members starting in September, or whenever a member joins or renews after September.
Charitable Activities
LexFUND - LexFUND consists of scholarships and assistance granted to Lexington families in need as well as financial contributions to support community organizations. It is funded by proceeds from our events as well as donations received from members. LexFUND granted over $65,000 over the last three years (2009-2010, 2010-11, 2011-12). Preschool scholarships are publicized through local preschools and LexFUN! functions, and are awarded to preschool aged Lexington area residents who would not otherwise have the opportunity to attend preschool. LexFUN! also participates in community events and makes annual donations to organizations that benefit preschool families such as The Cary Memorial Library. LexFUN! also maintains the fish tanks at Cary Memorial Library and supports passes to local museums available to library patrons.
Give A Hand & Get A Hand
LexFUN! just launched a meal delivery called It’s Delivered, a dinner signup program allowing LexFUN! members to prepare and deliver dinners to LexFUN! families when they have a new baby(ies). Members can request support or offer to deliver meals today!
Community Service
This committee organizes community service activities for young children and their families, including Meals on Wheels, shelter donations, book drives, holiday giving and visiting and planting flowers with Seniors. Through the work of the Community Service Committee, LexFUN! makes numerous donations to womens shelters and organizations such as COMPASS, the Lexington Food Pantry, Cradles to Crayons and other local organizations. Members can get involved by reaching out to our VP of Community Service.
Community Relations
LexFUN! has representatives on the PTA Council as well as the Early Education Committee and maintains communication with the Lexington Public Schools, Recreation Department and Cary Library.

Do I have to live in Lexington to join LexFUN!? LexFUN! welcomes both moms and dads from Lexington and its surrounding towns! Membership is open to anyone. Our club was started by moms from Lexington 70 years ago. And while majority of our activities occur in Lexington, we also promote family activities that occur outside of Lexington to within Concord, Arlington, Bedford, Belmont and beyond.
What kinds of parents join LexFUN!?
LexFUN! Members connect with a diverse community of parents ranging from their early twenties to their early fifties; families with one child or five; stay-at-home moms and dads, working moms, and parents who shared life duties in a multitude of ways; all types of parenting styles, religious beliefs, political leanings, and personal aspirations. What we all have in common is an awareness that parenting is tough (incredibly rewarding too), and that it is much more fun and easier when done within a supportive community.

Annual Booklet
In September members receive the current edition of LexFUN!’s annual booklet, which is a comprehensive guide to Lexington ’s preschools, child care facilities, and summer camps. The booklet also provides valuable information about services and facilities offered by the Town and a listing of resources and kid-friendly venues in and around Lexington.

The newsletter is sent to the membership ten times per year (September to June) by email. The newsletter provides a monthly calendar of events, including social/recreational, educational and charitable activities. In addition, when you join LexFUN! you are automatically signed up for our member-only email distribution list, which we use to send the newsletter to our membership monthly. Members can log in here to access our newsletter archive.
