  2. Register your child for kindergarten!
Fill out the forms in your school registration packet mailed to you from the Lexington Public School.  If you haven’t received your school registration packet, please contact your elementary school directly.
  3. Attend the town-wide Kindergarten Orientation hosted by the LPS
It will be held on Thursday, March 19th at 6:45 pm at the Estabrook Elementary School (117 Grove St, Lexington). If your child will be starting kindergarten this fall, make sure you attend the townwide Kindergarten Orientation Program on March 19th. The program is designed to provide parents of incoming kindergarten students with an overview of Lexington’s kindergarten program. There will be brief presentations by kindergarten teachers and elementary school principals, and there will be time for questions at the end.
  4. Attend the Kindergarten Parent’s Panel on Wednesday, May 20th from 7 to 9 pm at the Cary Library. LexFUN! presents an evening of discussion and Q&A with parents of current Lexington Kindergarteners. From what supplies to buy and daily routines, to food services and whether to bus, walk or drive to school, our panelists are available to answer all of your questions about the Kindergarten experience from a parent’s perspective, and maybe a few you didn’t even know you had!

Sign up for LexFUN!’s Kindergarten Connection!

LexFUN!’s (Lexington Five and Under Network) Kindergarten Connection program is coordinating playdates for Lexington families with children starting public kindergarten in the Fall of 2015. These gatherings typically take place in the early summer, and are a terrific opportunity for parents and their children to meet, chat and play with other incoming kindergarteners and their families.

As part of the Kindergarten Connection program, you will receive a contact list of the other participating families at your school so that you may stay in touch and get together with your new friends over the summer. It’s a great way to ease the transition to school in the fall with familiar faces!

Then, shortly before school starts in August, ALL incoming kindergarteners at each school will be invited to a family playdate at their school playground.

We also need families to host playdates! Hosting a playdate means opening your yard or home to 6-8 families for a one time gathering, usually in June. We will work with you to coordinate a date and time and invite other families. Host families are also invited to another playdate so they may enjoy the fun as a guest as well.
