So you’re thinking about preschool?

Selecting a preschool that is a good fit for your child can be exciting but also daunting and with COVID-19 still a part of our daily lives, there are even more questions and uncertainties. As a parent, you want to be confident that you decide on the right program, but how do you make the best choice? Is preschool even the right choice for your family at this time?  Maybe you are already attending preschool but reevaluating your selection?

There are obvious things to consider such as the cost, location and length of the school day.  Other areas such as the quality of the outdoor space and the duration of outside play are now increasingly important.  But what about the quality of the teachers - how can you assess that? Is daily communication from teachers important to you? Will their school calendar mean you need to pay for additional childcare when school is closed?  How do the teachers handle inappropriate behavior in the classroom? Are the children active contributors? How often do they get to choose their activities?
